About Gladys Jacobson, Mosaic Artist

I am an up and coming mosaic artist who enjoys working with different ideas to create mosaics with distinctive and individualistic characteristics and flair in and around San Antonio, Texas.  I am a member of the Society of American Mosaic Artists and work mainly with glass but have expanded to include other medium such as rock and metal to create specialized mosaics that reflect a particular personality and style.    I created a University of Texas mosaic – a Longhorn along with the letters UT - which was used for the 2006 Alamo Bowl game against Iowa.  In addition, I provided a Spurs table for the 2007 Spurs Gala.  An eye-catching silver and black logo across the center of a basketball forms a table top.  A light shining beneath brings to life the entire glass surface for viewing.

I am not afraid to try new ideas and concepts for such items as tables, candle holders, family crests, and pictures that evoke happy memories.  Mosaics are extremely durable and can easily become family heirlooms.  I have designed and created a variety of mosaics that include crosses, sports logos, lake scenes, and Texas motifs.

Mosaics can also be functional – I have created a number of lazy susans for use in the kitchen with items such as chili peppers or apples.  One can easily be created for you that will add charm to your kitchen, dining room, or living area in your special decorating design.  This one of a kind art can easily become a conversational piece that will bring enjoyment and beauty to your life.
